Chase Points Boost: How to get more value from your points in Chase Travel

In 2025, Chase introduced Points Boost as a way to get outsized value from your Chase Ultimate Rewards pointswithout having to transfer them to hotel and airline partners.

Available on several Chase cards — including select Sapphire, Ink Business and now Freedom cards — Points Boost lets you redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points for select hotels and flights booked through Chase Travel℠ at higher values than the standard 1 cent per point.

Depending on the booking and which Chase card you have, your points can be worth more than the standard 1-cent redemption, with some Points Boost offers reaching 2 cents per point and occasionally, even higher.

At the high end, that’s surprisingly close to TPG’s September 2026 valuation of Chase Ultimate Rewards points at 2.05 cents apiece, without having to learn airline or hotel transfer partners.

Here’s how Chase Points Boost works and how to decide when it’s your best redemption option.

What is Chase Points Boost?

Points Boost is a feature that lets you book select hotels and flights through Chase Travel for fewer points than you’d pay at the standard 1 cent-per-point redemption rate.

For cardholders with the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees) or Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (see rates and fees), Points Boost values can typically reach up to 2 cents per point.

For eligible cards such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees) and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (see rates and fees), Points Boost values typically top out around 1.5 cents per point, though these values can vary.

Chase has also expanded Points Boost to the no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Unlimited® (see rates and fees), Chase Freedom Flex® (see rates and fees) and Chase Freedom (no longer available to new applicants). These cardholders can now receive rotating Points Boost offers on select hotels, increasing the value of their points by up to 10%, from the standard 1 cent apiece to as much as 1.1 cents each.

The information for the Chase Freedom has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

But one thing we’ve noticed is that the $95 Sapphire Preferred will occasionally receive a better Points Boost redemption than the Sapphire Reserve, so don’t automatically assume the more expensive card always offers the best value.

You’ll often find Points Boost available at Chase’s curated list of The Edit properties, which are bookable by Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve for Business cardholders, but it also appears at many more budget-friendly hotels.

How to use Chase Points Boost

To use Points Boost, simply search for flights or hotels in Chase Travel the same way you normally would.

If you want to prioritize Points Boost-eligible options, select the “Points Boost only” filter shown below. This narrows your results to hotels and flights offering boosted redemption values for your travel dates.

You can also identify eligible bookings by the small rocket icon that appears next to the points price.

You may also notice the 1.65 cents-per-point valuation highlighted in blue. That’s not part of Chase Travel itself; it’s displayed through a third-party tool called Points Path.

There are free membership levels available with Points Path, and having that additional data displayed makes it much easier to spot some of the best redemption opportunities at a glance.

Tips for using Points Boost for hotels

Points Boost is most reliably available for Chase’s The Edit Hotels, a program available to those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Sapphire Reserve for Business. These stays come with an included breakfast for two, a $100 property credit and a few other perks and amenities.

Points Boost becomes especially valuable when you can stack it with one of the Sapphire Reserve’s two annual up-to-$250 The Edit statement credits. A minimum two-night stay is required.

Here’s one example. This two-night stay at the Westin Anaheim Resort, just steps from Disneyland, costs $865 or 52,420 Chase points with Points Boost at 1.65 cents per point.

Now apply one of the up to $250 The Edit credits. Your out-of-pocket cost drops to $615. If you then use Points Boost at checkout to cover the rest, you’d redeem just 37,269 points (at 1.65 cents each) plus the $250 charged to your Sapphire Reserve to trigger the statement credit.

That’s effectively 18,636 Chase points per night. Booking those same two nights directly through Marriott Bonvoy would require 108,000 Marriott points.

The same strategy works with the Sapphire Preferred’s annual $100 Chase Travel hotel statement credit.

Tips for using Points Boost for airfare

While I reliably find Points Boost hotel options, flight availability is somewhat less consistent.

It’s uncommon to see Points Boost on everyday domestic economy itineraries, but I’ve found some better values on long-haul premium cabin flights, where Points Boost can occasionally beat transferring points to an airline — particularly when airline award availability through transfer partners is limited.

Is Points Boost worth it?

Whether Points Boost is the best redemption depends on three things:

• The Points Boost redemption value
• How many points a transfer partner would require
• Whether Chase Travel’s cash price is competitive

If you were already planning to redeem Chase points through Chase Travel, getting more than 1 cent per point with Points Boost is almost always a better outcome. That now includes Freedom cardholders, who can get up to 1.1 cents per point on select hotel bookings.

But generally speaking, the higher the return per pointint mark — the better of a deal it generally is, though finding awards at that high water mark has gotten harder over the months

That said, if the redemption is closer to 1.5 cents per point, it’s still worth comparing transfer partner pricing before booking. If you have multiple eligible Chase cards, it’s also worth comparing the Points Boost rate across those cards. You can move points between eligible Chase cards and then book

TPG Tip: Chase Travel has started to allow some customers to price-match hotels to non-Chase Travel prices, which could be a great way to use your Chase points and lock in the best price you can find.

Bottom line

Chase has made several changes to how points are redeemed in Chase Travel over the past year, but Points Boost remains a positive addition.

While 2-cent-per-point redemptions aren’t as common as they were at launch, it’s still possible to find excellent values — particularly on hotels and some premium-cabin flights, especially when stacking with some of Chase’s hotel statement credits.

As a rule, I always compare Points Boost against transfer partner pricing before redeeming. If the redemption is approaching 2 cents per point, it’s often difficult to beat that value unless you’ve found an exceptional airline or hotel sweet spot.

For those who have had their Chase cards for a while and were grandfathered into the ‘old’ redemption rates of 1.25 cents or 1.5 cents, depending on the Chase card, you may still have points available to use at those fixed redemption rates until Oct. 26, 2027.

For everyone else, Points Boost is one of the easiest ways to stretch Chase Ultimate Rewards without needing to learn the ins and outs of airline and hotel transfer partners.
