In Settimo Torinese, Stellar Hub has been inaugurated, an 8,000-square-metre facility for mass-producing satellites of up to 600 kilograms, with a 2,000-square-metre clean room among the largest in Europe.

Across Europe, the production of satellites is increasingly being aligned with the pace of the manufacturing industry. That is the gamble behind the Stellar Hub, the new Space Industries factory inaugurated on 28 October in Settimo Torinese, just outside Turin: a plant designed to assemble, integrate and test satellites and spacecraft of up to 600 kilograms, bringing all the main production stages together under one roof. At its heart is a 2,000-square-metre clean room, among the largest in Europe.

This is the space where Space Industries will concentrate the industrial activities needed to build its satellites.

One of the key features of the Stellar Hub in Settimo Torinese is the size of the areas dedicated to space-related operations, alongside test facilities such as the thermal vacuum chamber and the vibration test area.

The Italian company Space Industries aims to develop a model of satellite mass production, applying to the space sector the principles of efficiency and organisation typical of industrial manufacturing.

The uniqueness of the plant lies in the fact that all satellite tests (environmental, vibration and transmission) are carried out in a single location.

Assembly operations cover the preparation and joining of the different elements that make up a spacecraft, while integration makes it possible to bring together components and systems in their planned configuration.

The subsequent test activities are devoted to the checks required as part of the production process.

The modular spaces include up to 12 separate integration areas, allowing several programmes to run in parallel.

The infrastructure is designed for commercial, institutional and scientific programmes, from single satellites to small and medium-scale series and larger constellations.

Concentrating the different stages on the same site keeps movements between plants to a minimum and streamlines work coordination.

What we know about Space Industries, the Italian company behind the Stellar Hub

The Stellar Hub has been built by Space Industries S.p.A., a new Italian company in the space sector founded in Turin in 2025 by the Comat group and Giuseppe Santangelo, an Italian-American entrepreneur with long international experience in aerospace.

The company already has three contracts under its belt and currently employs around 40 people. It aims to surpass 200 staff by 2030 as the business grows. By the same year, Space Industries is targeting annual turnover of 30 million euros.

Space Industries was created with a clear industrial goal: to industrialise satellite production, bringing the logic and efficiency of serial manufacturing into the space sector.

The project therefore seeks to organise operations according to a mass-production model, transferring into aerospace an approach typical of manufacturing.

The new factory in Settimo Torinese provides the facility through which Space Industries plans to develop this activity, concentrating in a single plant the operations needed to prepare and validate satellites and spacecraft.

Space Industries’ industrial operations cover assembly, integration and testing, known in the aerospace sector by the acronym AIT.
