France is cleaning up after the worst unrest in years, as violent groups hijacked the marches. Also on today’s Europe Today: Ukraine hits St. Petersburg in a large-scale drone attack, and the UN’s aid chief, Tom Fletcher, warns that more aid workers are at risk of dying.

    On today’s show:

Valerie Gauriat, Euronews correspondent, reports from Paris on the destruction left by the weekend’s protests, how it compares with the war zones she usually covers, what the final cost could be, and whether the government has regained control after President Emmanuel Macron vowed in an address to the nation to catch all those responsible.

Alberto Alemanno, Professor of EU law at HEC Paris, looks at the cost-of-living and housing protests spreading across Europe, from Albania to Portugal and Italy, and how long they could last.

Sasha Vakulina reports on the Ukrainian drone attack on St Petersburg, which Russian officials say hit an oil terminal and a data centre, with reports of a bridge also being targeted, and what it means for Donald Trump‘s energy ceasefire. She speaks exclusively to Katarina Mathernova, the EU’s Ambassador to Ukraine.

Tom Fletcher, UN aid chief, discusses how bad the plight of aid workers is, after more than 1,000 were killed in three years. He was in Brussels for an EU conference on the protection of humanitarian aid workers, as a fight unfolds over how development, humanitarian aid and geopolitical priorities will be financed in the EU’s 2028–2034 budget.

    By Peter NovakSeptember 25, 20260

After a nearly monthlong delay, states are now able to order this season’s COVID-19 vaccines through a federal program that provides free immunizations to low-income children, the US health department says.
