Framed by traditional black wrought ironwork, the Fuente de los Niños Miones delights passersby in Guadalajara’s Historic Center, right in the Plaza Tapatía. This sculptural gem attracts curious travelers with its peculiar charm and a touch of urban cheekiness.
Designed to celebrate the joy of childhood, the artwork was created by sculptor Miguel Miramontes and installed in 1982. It sits on Morelos Street, right next to the mysterious “Devil’s Corner” (Rincón del Diablo), an alleyway shrouded in enigmatic local legends.
Visitors often stop and smile at the sight of these four child sculptures playing merrily with water. The most whimsical feature of the ensemble is the water jets sprouting mischievously from various parts of their bodies.
This picturesque fountain is an essential stop on the walking route through Plaza Tapatía, set between the Degollado Theater and the Cabañas Cultural Institute. It remains an eccentric spot that infuses the heart of Jalisco with humor and vital spirit.
