The prefecture confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

A collision between a freight train and a coach near the Channel Tunnel in northern France left at least 19 people injured on Thursday evening, local authorities said.

“An accident involving a minibus transporting heavy goods vehicle drivers who were about to board a Le Shuttle shuttle occurred this evening, at the loading platform of the Eurotunnel site,” the Pas-de-Calais prefecture wrote on X.

Emergency services, including ambulances, a helicopter and police officers, were deployed to the scene.

The collision occurred in Coquelles, close to the entrance of the freight tunnel connecting France and Britain.

According to local broadcaster Delta FM, the collision occurred at around 7:30 pm on the Eurotunnel site.

Authorities have yet to establish the circumstances of the accident or release details about the victims and their injuries. The coach driver was among those hurt.

A press conference is scheduled for 10:15 pm, while traffic through the Channel Tunnel has remained operational.

Switzerland’s neutrality vote is asking the wrong question

    By Peter NovakSeptember 25, 20260

On September 27, Switzerland votes on whether to lock a stricter definition of neutrality into its constitution. The initiative would bar Switzerland from cooperating with a military alliance unless it were under military attack or such an attack were being prepared, and prevent it from imposing sanctions on a belligerent state unless those sanctions were…
