The Chase Air Canada Aeroplan® Credit Card (see rates and fees) recently underwent a major refresh, adding several valuable travel perks while increasing its annual fee from $95 to $195.
New and existing cardmembers now receive automatic Aeroplan 25K status with no spending requirement, 15% savings on eligible Air Canada award flights and up to $100 in annual Air Canada statement credits.
For a limited time, new cardmembers can also earn up to 115,000 bonus Aeroplan points: 75,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening, plus an additional 40,000 bonus points after spending $20,000 on purchases in the first 12 months from account opening.

Aeroplan card welcome offer
The $195-per-year Aeroplan card is currently offering new cardholders its best-ever welcome offer.
New cardholders can earn up to 115,000 bonus Aeroplan points: 75,000 bonus Aeroplan points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening, plus an additional 40,000 bonus Aeroplan points after spending $20,000 on purchases in the first 12 months from account opening.
TPG’s September 2026 valuations place Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents apiece, making this welcome offer worth $1,725. However, earning the full bonus requires $20,000 in spending during the first year, so before applying, consider whether that spending requirement fits naturally into your budget.
Keep in mind that this card is affected by Chase’s 5/24 rule, which means you will likely not be approved if you have opened five or more personal cards in the past 24 months, regardless of which issuer they’re from.

Aeroplan card earning rates
Beyond its welcome offer, the Aeroplan card earns bonus points across several travel and everyday spending categories:
- UPDATED: Up to 5 points per dollar spent on eligible Air Canada purchases — 3 points from the card plus 2 additional points from Air Canada when traveling as an Aeroplan 25K member
- NEW: 3 points per dollar on travel purchases other than Air Canada
- 3 points per dollar spent at grocery stores and dining (through Dec. 31, 2026; these categories will earn 2 points per dollar starting Jan. 1, 2027)
- UPDATED: 2 points per dollar on gas station purchases
- 1 point per dollar spent on other purchases
The addition of 3 points per dollar on general travel is particularly useful, but the card will become less rewarding for dining and grocery purchases when those categories drop from 3 points per dollar to 2 points per dollar in 2027.
Aeroplan card key benefits
Beyond the points that you can earn, the Aeroplan card also offers several benefits that can be particularly valuable for frequent Air Canada travelers:
- Automatic Aeroplan 25K elite status with no spending requirement, and all the benefits that come with this status
- 15% savings on eligible flights booked with Aeroplan points
- Up to $100 in annual Air Canada statement credits, split into two up to $50 semiannual credits
- First free checked bag for cardmembers and up to eight travel companions traveling on the same reservation (travel must originate on an Air Canada flight)
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel protections, such as auto rental insurance, baggage delay insurance, roadside assistance, trip cancellation and interruption insurance and trip delay reimbursement
- Up to $120 statement credit for a Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or Nexus application every four years
The card’s Air Canada statement credits can help offset the $195 annual fee, while the 15% award discount can provide additional value for cardmembers who regularly redeem Aeroplan points for eligible itineraries that include Air Canada flights.
Additionally, cardholders can continue to earn a 500-point bonus for every $2,000 spent on the card per calendar month, up to 1,500 bonus points per month, through Dec. 31, 2026. This benefit will be discontinued starting Jan. 1, 2027.
Bottom line
The refreshed Aeroplan card is a strong option for frequent Air Canada travelers, especially with automatic 25K status, 15% savings on eligible award flights and up to $100 in annual Air Canada statement credits.
The $195 annual fee is a big jump from the previous $95, but the current best-ever welcome offer of up to 115,000 points sweetens the deal. Aeroplan points can unlock flights on Air Canada and its extensive network of airline partners, including United Airlines.
If you already have a use in mind for Aeroplan points and can comfortably meet the $20,000 spending requirement for the full bonus, now could be a good time to apply.
