If you have a Capital One credit card, you may be able to earn extra rewards on purchases through Capital One Offers.

Similar to Amex Offers and Chase Offers, the program gives eligible cardholders access to shopping deals that can help them save on purchases they were already planning to make.

Here’s how Capital One Offers works, how to use it and what to know before shopping.

    What is Capital One Offers?

Capital One Offers is a shopping rewards platform that gives eligible Capital One customers access to special deals at participating merchants. Offers span categories such as clothing, electronics, home goods and travel.

The platform is available to eligible U.S. consumer Capital One credit card holders, including those with cards in the Venture, Savor and Quicksilver families. (Business credit cards are not eligible.)

You can access available offers through your online account or the Capital One mobile app. However, eligibility varies by account, so you’ll need to sign in to see which offers are available to you.

Unlike the standard rewards you earn on everyday purchases, Capital One Offers requires you to select an eligible deal and follow its redemption instructions.

For example, if you find an offer for 5% back at a retailer, you could earn that reward on top of the points or miles you’d normally earn with your credit card, as long as your purchase meets the offer’s terms.

Capital One Offers is different from Capital One Shopping. Capital One Offers provides deals through eligible Capital One accounts, while Capital One Shopping is a separate shopping tool that helps users find coupon codes, compare prices and track price drops.

What deals are available through Capital One Offers?

The deals you’ll find through Capital One Offers depend on what’s available when you sign in. You might see discounts on clothing, electronics or hotel bookings, with participating merchants and reward rates varying.

Some offers apply to most purchases from a retailer, while others are limited to certain products or categories. Keep in mind that rewards may also exclude taxes, shipping and other fees.

How to use Capital One Offers

You can find Capital One Offers through the issuer’s website or mobile app:

    • On the website, sign in to your Capital One account and look for the Capital One Offers section on your account dashboard.
    • In the mobile app, sign in and scroll down to find the shopping offers section, then select “View All Offers.”

From there, you can browse deals or search for a specific merchant.

How you redeem an offer depends on whether you’re shopping online or in a physical store.

    1. Find an offer: Browse the available deals or search for a merchant you’re interested in.
    2. Check the terms: Look for any spending requirements, exclusions or expiration dates.
    3. Follow the offer link or shop in-store: Select the offer and use Capital One’s link to visit the retailer’s website. For in-store purchases, activate an eligible in-store offer before shopping, then pay with the same Capital One card used to activate it before the offer expires.
    4. Complete your purchase: Complete your transaction using an eligible payment method.
    5. Track your reward: Check the offer’s payout timeline to see when you should receive it.

Keep in mind that for online offers, the link you use matters, as Capital One relies on tracking information to associate your purchase with the offer.

Be sure to confirm which locations, payment methods and purchases qualify. An online offer won’t necessarily apply to an in-store transaction, or vice versa.

When will you receive your Capital One Offers reward?

Capital One says rewards typically arrive in about 45 days, although some can take up to three billing cycles. Certain offers may take longer.

For hotel offers, payouts are issued after you complete your stay, and the reservation must be completed within one year of booking.

What to know before using Capital One Offers

There are a few things worth keeping in mind before taking advantage of an offer.

    Compare your options before shopping

I’ve gotten into the habit of checking Capital One Offers whenever I’m shopping online with my Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. Sometimes there’s a deal worth using, but other times I’ll find a better offer through another shopping portal.

That’s why it’s worth comparing your options before making a purchase. For example, an offer for 5% back through Capital One, for example, might not be as valuable as a higher reward rate elsewhere.

Just keep in mind that you generally can’t stack Capital One Offers with other shopping portals or promotional codes. Using another portal or certain coupons could invalidate your reward, so you’ll want to decide which offer to use before checking out.

For travel purchases, I’d also recommend comparing the total price and booking conditions rather than focusing solely on the advertised reward.

    Pay attention to offer restrictions

Each offer has its own terms, including potential spending requirements, expiration dates and usage limits. Some deals may exclude gift cards, certain products or other purchases, while others may be limited to a single transaction.

Look at the terms before shopping, particularly if you’re making a large purchase or planning to use an offer more than once.

    Keep track of your rewards

You can check the status of your Capital One Offers rewards by opening the menu on the right side of the Capital One Offers page and selecting “Shopping Trips.” From there, you’ll see a tracker showing the status of your purchases and rewards.

It’s also worth saving your offer details and order confirmations, especially for purchases with longer payout timelines.

If your reward hasn’t arrived when expected, double-check that you met the offer requirements before contacting Capital One.

    Bottom line

Capital One Offers can be an easy way to earn extra rewards on purchases you’re already planning to make.

Before shopping, check your account for available deals, compare your options and follow the offer’s instructions to make sure your purchase qualifies.

Just remember that offers and eligibility can vary, so a deal available to one Capital One customer may not be available to another.
